Gas Stove in 'Old Chicago' Brick Alcove I finally got the alcove in the family room "bricked up". It's an "Old Chicago"-style "cultured" brick product from Cascade Stone. They're the people that did the stone work used at Knott's Camp Snoopy at the MegaMall. It turned out really nice. All that's left for the room now is some wood trim, wallpaper and new carpet.

Mark & Sharon - Christmas 2000 Sharon and I decided to get a "couples" portrait done for Christmas, considering it's just the two of us again. (More later......) We used this picture for some of our Christmas cards this year.

Mark & Sharon - Christmas 2000 Marie and Dave treated Sharon and I to a dinner on the Minnesota Zephyr. This is a '50's vintage train that runs out of Stillwater up along the old tracks for about 15 miles. They serve a delicious 5-course meal with an excellent wait staff. We had a lot of fun and brought this souvenier picture back with us.

Sharon & Colorado In July, Sharon and I took a trip out to Colorado to visit Carol, Joy, Dave and my Dad while we were still able. It was a treat for us to be able to take a driving vacation alone with each other. 2000 miles in a red sports car can be a lot of fun. This is a shot overlooking the Garden fo the Gods.

Gold Camp Road While out in Colorado we drove up to Cripple Creek- an old mining town up in the mountains. We took a tour in one of the old underground gold mines and Sharon goaded me into taking the "Gold Camp Road" on the way back. This is an old gravel road used to get to the mining camps well before the highway went in. It is very steep and narrow in places, but can be a lot of fun for an adventuresome driver in a capable car. This shot is one of many spectacular vistas we encountered on that original roadway.

Dad
We had a nice visit with Mark's Dad while we were in Colorado (at least as good as could be hoped for or expected). Physically, Dad was doing quite well, but the Alzheimer's had certainly taken it's toll. We're so grateful we were able to see him at that time, because he finally lost his battle on October 31st (Halloween).

Jack & Alec
Our little traveler Sharon, Denise, Marie & Alec, Jack and I managed to make it out to Colorado for Dad's memorial service. It had been quite a while since that much of our family had been all together at one time. Jack has joined the Army Reserves and was in Boot Camp when we got the word about Dad. The Army saw to it that he was there for this sad but necessary trip. They put him on a Greyhound bus and gave him about a 24 hour stay with us. Sharon really liked this picture with the lamp in the background. It kind of looks angelic.

Private Tente Jack graduated from boot camp and his AIT in mid-December. Sharon and I drove down for his graduation. (We encountered a bunch of "weather" on that trip, but luckily avoided the worst for most of our driving.) Here is his graduation photo. He is back with us temporarily and will be moving into Marie & Dave's duplex in January. He's considering re-enlisting for a 2-3 year "full-time" hitch.

Grandma Carol
We are not the only grandparents in the family now. Since our visit in July, Paul and Sarah had a baby boy- Sebastian. Here he is with his "Grandma" Carol.

the Birthday boy
We had a first-year birthday party for Alec at the fire station. Here he is enjoying his cake.

Brandon clowning around
Brandon was clowning around at the birthday party.

Brandon's portrait Denise and Brian had portraits done of Brandon. We are glad to have some updated pictures of him and are happy to share them with you. Brandon will be 4 years old in March.
